APHA is happy to announce the launch of a new video that answers the question, “is public health a return on investment?” This video shows how public health surrounds us and has an impact in all aspects of our lives, and why we need to prioritize public health funding. Watch and learn how public health saves both money and lives, and share with others to help us spread the message!

Surgeon General Regina Benjamin kicks off National Public Health Week and explains how public health is a return on investment. The video announces the beginning of a national effort to engage more people in the simple, yet extraordinarily beneficial form of exercise, walking. Make sure to watch as we begin NPHW!

Description: Come join students from the University of Maryland Public Health Garden team, Delta Omega (the Public Health Honor Society), and the Maryland Council on Family Relations (MCFR) to learn about the connections between gardening and public health, and to get active in the garden! From 3:30-4:00 pm we'll hear from two Ph.D. students about their work related to the public health-gardening nexus. Then from 4:00-5:30 pm, everyone is invited to get their hands dirty in the garden helping plant, harvest, and assist with other garden tasks at hand. Join the spirit of this year's National Public Health Week theme "A Healthier America Begins Today!" and start healthy living and eating with the Public Health Garden!
