The Indiana State Department of Health, the Indiana Public Health Association, and the IU School of Medicine Department of Public Health Office of Public Health Practice are presenting a joint National Public Health Week Conference, Building the Foundation for a Healthy Indiana. This two-day conference is designed for professionals in local and state government agencies, health-related organizations, academics, environmental affairs, clinical medical care, health administration, and policy. The conference will offer: *Award ceremony *Local and national speakers presenting over 35 sessions *Local Health Department Manager's Meeting *Networking opportunities and events *Physical activity sessions *Poster sessions *Special student tracks for graduate and undergraduates *Trade show Sessions will cover a variety of public health issues. Specific focus will be on health reform, environmental health, professional development, public health science, and promising practices. A student track will be available on April 8 and is designed for graduate and undergraduate students. Building the Foundation for a Healthy Indiana will be held at the new Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Campus Center on April 7-8, 2009. Registration costs $85 per day or $160 for both days. Students may attend for $45 per day, with some scholarships available. The registration fee includes all sessions, access to the trade show, participant materials, certificate, parking, continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon break service. Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are available, starting at $250. All packages include at least one complimentary registration, a booth for two days, and the opportunity to present at an exclusive career fair for students.

Title:

The Momentum Walk It Challenge

The Momentum Walk-It Challenge offers both enrolling and current Weight Watchers members free access to an online, eight-week exercise training program. People will receive access to a special Web site where they can join walking teams and sign up for local 5K walks between April 12 and June 6. In addition, all participants who complete the program will receive a Presidential Award Certificate from the 2009 President's Challenge. The President's Challenge is a program that is part of The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and encourages all Americans to make being active part of their everyday lives. Weight Watchers partnered with The Active Network, a leading online community that promotes exercise, to develop this special online program for Weight Watchers' members. The goal of the Momentum Walk-it Challenge is to show Americans how easy it is to get moving towards better health and will connect people into mini-social networks to walk together and train towards an attainable goal. Walking is the perfect way to get moving, burn calories and tone muscles.
